Bridestowe Lavender farm Tasmania (what you need to know).

Bridestowe lavender farm

When lovers Corry & Gerrard reached out about capturing the special moments with them at Bridestowe lavender estate I was absolutely delighted. Considering I live just down the road, I'd been itching to capture the vast floral arrays in all their summertime glory.

This enchanting property, located a beautiful 50-minute drive from Launceston and a 3-hour 20-minute journey from Hobart is bursting with charm.

The entire privately-owned estate spans more than 260 acres, making it the largest privately owned in the world.

The lavender fields, comprising of approximately 650,000 plants, extend for roughly 200 kilometres in total. Meaning there's lots of private little nooks you can enjoy the subtle perfumes & Mt Arthur backdrop.

Ahead is a comprehensive guide to visiting + capturing your visit to one of Tasmania's best commercial flower farms.

When is lavender season in Tasmania?

The best time to see the lavender season + farm in bloom is from early December to early February. With peak flower season from mid December - mid January .

The estate also runs tours & experiences during the off season.

Bridestowe lavender estate tours.

Off season (outside of summer) tours are available through the website. They include two hours of behind the scenes insight into the operations of the famous agri-tourism estate. At a cost of $99/person you'll experience an in depth workshop on the lavender oil distillery process.

Bridestowe lavender estate accommodation.

To take advantage of the spectacular sunrise/ sunset opportunities that the lavender fields present, accommodation near Bridestowe lavender farm is crucial.

Summer in Tasmania presents long days and long sunsets/sunrises with ample time to capture the spectacular fields of colour.

Given these are very late/early you'll want to book somewhere close by.

Bridestowe itself does not offer accommodation.

I have included a couple of nearby accommodation options below.

  • Murdoch Tasmania. Owners Brad + Matt have created a luxury farm stay experience with equestrian influence.

  • Fork it farm. Ran by farmers Dan + Kim this is one of my favourite farms in all of Tasmania. Their passion and knowledge is on another level.

Entry fees

An entry fee of $20 during peak flower season (Start of Dec - end of Jan). Free entry at other times of the year. To enter the Tasmanian lavender farm outside of their usual business hours (recommended for softer lighting conditions) contact management.

What to wear for photographs among the lavender fields

Light, softer colours think pastels or whites & earthy tones. Sundresses & flowy clothing compliment the theme too.

Avoid wearing bold colours or patterns.

Additional Info.

- Not all lavender rows are equal, head deep into the property to find some thick, bushy, vibrant rows.
- The red farm dirt will trash your clothes.
- Lavender flavoured products for sale will taste like soap.
