Peppermint Bay Wedding: Styled shoot.
Peppermint Bay is such a spectacular choice of wedding location! so naturally when Nina from Isle weddings & Style my day reached out to help cover a cruise themed shoot I was all over it. Despite having multiple weddings to cover the following two days, the idea of three days of shooting got me both nervous and excited.... Perfect growth environment!
Peppermint bay cruises portrays classy, elegant & fun vibes so that was integrated into the scope. We wanted to portray the essence of a Peppermint bay cruise wedding. I hope this outline + accompanying photographs can provide inspiration and an overview of the different elements and details that were incorporated into this stunning day on the water.
Concept & Theme
Collaborative effort between a collective of talented Tasmanian wedding vendors (Stylist, models, cruise ship, dress designer, hair & makeup, wedding accessories, publication and photographer).
Conceptualizing a vision for the shoot ~ Nicole from Frahn bridal had the vision "Classy wedding, post ceremony, European influences, bride letting her hair down - having some fun & sailing off into the sunset with her new husband" (Imaginary exotic hubby wasn't present for the shoot). Nina added the timeless piece of advice "Keep it fun".
Peppermint Bay Cruises
We were greeted & shown aboard by the captain and wasted no time in exploring the bar. This cruise liner would be such a vibe for wedding/ reception! all while getting to see Hobart from a completely different view. We cruised out around the heads and found some gorgeous little bays to tuck into.
Tasmanian Bridal Fashion and Beauty
Nicole from Frahn Bridal provided the custom bridal pieces that embodied elegant & stylish.
Hair and makeup by the infinitely talented Alex & Kim from Makeup bar Hobart.
Accessories and jewellery provided by Patriciaannbridal.
Floral & Styling
Ninas' wonderful touches didn't go unnoticed, Bunch of flowers upon entry and a little tasting table set up.
Photography (Brook street pier, Peppermint bay, Hobart)
Given this was my first ever styled shoot I was über excited! I'm obviously confident within the realm of natural light photography, and given the scope my editing style swung heavily toward black & white with medium grain, going for that classy, timeless look. I wouldn't consider my style of photography heavily posed but more looking for those authentic and genuine emotions/ moments. Given that, I felt this shoot was a great opportunity to better understand + explore the human form, curves, the type of body language being portrayed etc.
Peppermint Bay Cruises styled shoot was a successful collaboration of Tasmanian wedding industry professionals who showcased the beauty of this wedding/ event venue & of course their own talents. Thanks to Nina, who carefully planned and we collectively enjoyed a wonderful day out around Hobart + surrounds. Content from this shoot can also be seen in the latest issue of Isle weddings. Thanks again all involved, much love, Daniel.
